Collaged Bird Pins

The base for each pin is heavy-duty 300 lb watercolor paper on which Elizabeth collages (glues) a variety of papers in a random pattern. She uses a wide assortment of papers – handmade from around the world, recycled wrapping, tissue, dress pattern, music, newspapers and magazines – to achieve a true diversity of color, pattern, and texture. The pins are then drawn and cut out on the opposite side of the collaged sheet, thus ensuring that the color and the composition of each little bird is unique and a surprise to even the artist!
